Breathing is something most of us take for granted—until it becomes difficult. For people living with asthma and other respiratory conditions, symptoms like shortness of breath, chest tightness, and persistent coughing can significantly impact daily life and overall wellbeing.
While medical management remains essential, many individuals are also looking for complementary approaches to help support their respiratory health. One such approach is SCENAR therapy—a non-invasive treatment designed to stimulate the body’s natural recovery responses.
SCENAR is an acronym which stands for Self-Controlled Energy Neuro Adaptive Regulator. It is a small, hand-held device that can be applied to most problem areas. It works by improving blood circulation and delivering more oxygen to the affected areas, thus speeding up the recovery process. When it comes to asthma and other respiratory conditions, the mechanism of action involves dilating the respiratory airways which helps to relax the respiratory muscles and allows more air to come in and out of the lungs. It also helps to clear the chest. The result is improved breathing.
Effects are often felt immediately following a treatment session but can take up to three sessions.
So, while often there is no "cure" as such for some respiratory conditions, SCENAR therapy can help improve function, reduce symptoms, and enhance quality of life. It can be used as a stand-alone treatment, but we recommend it to be used alongside other treatment methods, such as breathing exercises and Clinical Pilates.
